In the Atlatan continent, demons from another dimension called Chaos invaded which the nobility fought back using Crests, which gave them superhuman powers. However, rather than join forces to end Chaos, the nobles instead fought each other to gain more Crest powers and lands. The story focuses on Siluca Meletes, a young mage who scorns the feuding lords for abandoning their people and Theo Cornaro, wandering knight and Crest holder who is trying to liberate his hometown from its tyrant lord. Joining forces, Siluca, Theo and their allies fight together to end the wars between the nobility and end Chaos.

The story first starts off around Favaro Leone who is a bounty hunter, collecting money off of bounties he collects (demons). Favaro Leone soon runs into Amira who has no clue what is really going on besides the fact that she must go to "Hellheim", a place where she can go meet her mother. Favaro Leone is then dragged onto this whole quest with her because she had cast a "contract spell" where he now has a demon tail and the only way to get it off is by completing his side of the deal.

Sorey is a human youth who grew up among the seraphim, spiritual beings not visible to humans. Sorey believes in the folklore that says "long ago, every human was able to see the seraphim" and dreams of unraveling the ancient mystery to make the world a place where people and seraphim can live together in peace. They are neither plants nor animals. They differ from other forms of life such as the micro-organisms and the fungi. Not having any money decides to sleep in the streets, the same night a young and beautiful women picks him op from the street and takes him home. Tatsumi stays a night since they promise him a position in the army as well. One night the house is visited by a group of assassins called night raid but who are the real bad guys of this story. Tatsumi ends up joining night raid and finds out that he identifies his self in this group more then in the army.

The series follows a team of ancient heroes protecting the world from an ominous force. Throughout history, unicorns have symbolized the virtuous, appearing to ensure that goodness reigns.
